Could Elvis Presley Play the Guitar?

February 4th, 2012

There has been a lot of debate over the years over just how good a guitarist Elvis Presley was. Some say that he only had a basic mastery of the guitar, while others have gone so far as to call him a guitar god. One thing that we can say for sure is that Elvis has a fantastic sense of rhythm and timing. Any lack in technical ability was more than made up for in the way he worked the guitar while on stage. It could be said that for Elvis the guitar was more of a prop than a musical instrument and something he worked beautifully into his stage performances. Whether you love or hate Elvis no one can deny that he was a man of amazing stage presence.

He was also no gentleman to the guitar. He set out to learn to play guitar fast and picked it up incredibly quickly, but incorporated a very aggressive style and was forever breaking strings. So the jury is still out on just how good a guitarist Elvis was, but he has left a mark on the world that will never be forgotten.

I often wonder if Elvis were around today what he would make of the internet and whether he would have been a much better guitarist had he had access to some good on some of the best guitar software. I guess we’ll never know, but one thing is for sure the internet has had a massive impact on the music industry in so many ways and will continue to do so. Making it that much easier for people to learn guitar is only one aspect of it, but it will no doubt be the catalyst behind the Elvis’s of the future. Who knows one of them might even be you!

A Great Show, a Great Sound

January 25th, 2012

I have to admit that when I first heard Deadmau5, I was not sure if I liked what I was hearing or not. But as I grew and my tastes in music continued to evolve, I decided that there was not another sound that I liked more. There is something unique in the style and the way Deadmau5 puts a song together, and I want to spread the word, and get more fans out there listening to my favorite songs, appreciating them as much as I do. I find most of my resources online, and have recently come across a great music video that I want to share with fans and future fans. Deadmau5 Meowingtons Hax 2k11 TORONTO is a great example of this style of music, and is a great way to get others interested in the music like I am. I always want new material from Deadmau5, and enjoy anything I can find!

Taking Piano Lessons is the First Step

January 21st, 2012

Learning something is always tough, especially at the beginning. Nothing is more important in learning than taking the first step. Take playing the piano for instance, no one can become a great pianist without first taking piano lessons and continuously practicing his skills. The piano is such a marvelous musical instrument that produces such varied music and to master it, one must be genuinely interested, focused and dedicated. In the past, unless one is naturally gifted, becoming a pianist was reserved for those who can afford piano lessons because they were then very expensive and set aside for the wealthy. This, however, does not hold true anymore because many schools offer lessons as part of their curriculum. There are also plenty of private tutors who offer their services and lessons are even taught online. Learning how to play the piano is now for everyone who wants to learn this type of music and how to romance this great musical instrument.
